What to bring

If you plan to do a bit of mountainbiking during your visit in Queenstown, be prepared for changeable weather at whatever time of year, after all we are in a mountain environment, and as such, susceptible to changeable weather conditions.

Even in summer we would recommend bringing a good base layer and at the least a light waterproof jacket that you can carry with you on rides. A good set of sunglasses are also advised, something with good UV protection from our harsh sun. Stock up with plenty of sunscreen too if visiting during the summer months, Central Otago is one of the worst areas in the world for skin cancer.

At Vertigo bikes, when you hire a bike from us, we include a tool kit containing a multi-tool; tyre levers; puncture repair kit; spare innertube and pump. We will also give you a helmet, as it is law to wear a helmet whilst on a bike, and also we will give you a free trail map to help you find your way around. But best of all we will give you friendly advice using our local knowledge and experience in the area to make sure you go on a mountainbike ride you are going to enjoy.
