Queenstown Mountainbike Scene

Queenstown Mountainbike scene

The mountain bike scene in Queenstown has always been heavily downhill and freeride orientated, with a few main areas offering great riding to suit every type of rider, from steep technical downhills to big purpose built jump parks. A pro-active mountainbike club and supportive local council has seen many areas pop up, and become official designated mountainbike locations, and have all been built and sign posted to meet all relevant safety requirements.

As well as this, cross country trails are on the up, with areas like “7 Mile” which offers the less experienced rider something to hone their skills on, and for those wanting to get a bit of fitness too there are plenty of short tough climbs which reward you with great descents.

All in all there is a very young, active and vibrant mountainbike scene going on in Queenstown, and it is getting bigger every year, with lots of people seeing the benefits of coming from the Northern Hemispheres winter to have the joys of an endless summer.
